DSH entwickelte im Laufe ihres Lebens ihre individuelle Technik und damit einen eigenen Stil. Das zentrale Anliegen ihrer Oelmalerei auf Leinwand im Stil der klassischen Modernen ist das Streben nach Licht. Sich transparent überlagernde Flächen vermitteln dem Betrachter eine schwebende Leichtigkeit. Ihre Bilder sind klar, präzise und bei aller scharfen Linie und Geometrie romantisch oder auch kraftvoll und ausdrucksstark.
2007 wurde ihr der Kulturpreis des Main-Kinzig-Kreises zuerkannt.

In the course of her life DorisSchmidt-Haub developed her very personal painting technique and individuial style. Central concern of her oil paintings on canvas in classic-moderne style is the struggle for light. Structures, lines of forces and overlapping surface areas form figurative images of locations. Form and flows of colours convey harmony and soulfulness. Her paintings are clear, precise and although being sharp-lined and geometric, they can appear either romantic or powerful and strongly expressive.
In 2007 she received the cutural award of county of Main-Kinzig (near Frankfurt/Germany), her home region.
